Abstract

Petrie gave the study of ancient Egyptian pottery its first scientific approach after its long phase of treasure-hunting. Almost 120 years later, ceramology goes back to an interdisciplinary approach, following his foot-steps. In this talk, Dr. Khalifa traces the development of this science throughout the 20th century and into the 21st. The talk also sheds light on her work on Prehistoric and Predynstic pottery, as well as recent finds within the Aswan region.
